Outdoor Dance Portrait of Domonic Bertram

Outdoor Dance Portrait of Domonic Bertram

It was a real pleasure to work with such a talented and humble individual, as Domonic. From the moment we met, Domonic made it clear he was willing to do anything to ensure we captured some powerful imagery.

From looking at the photographs, I am sure you will agree we completed our task.

Domonic Bio:

What Age Did You Start Dancing?

I started dancing at the late age of 14.

Which School Did You Begin Dancing?

I began dancing at a dance school called Confidence in Pelton Fell. I then moved to a school called Eve Trews School of Dance in Low Fell before I left to study full time.

Where Did You Study Dance?

I attended Phil Winstons TheatreWorks on a full scholarship.

Who Have You Danced for Since Becoming a Professional Dancer?

I’ve had a fair few professional contracts, but some of my favourites include a cabaret show around Belgium, P&O Cruises including shows choreographed by Jonny Wilkes, Steven Mulhern and Ruthie Henshall. My most recent contract was working for an American cruise ship company Celebrity Cruises.

Who Do You Dance for Now?

Since graduating, I’ve mainly been dancing on cruise ships. I’ve recently just started working for celebrity cruises, but previously I was working for P&O cruises.

What Is the Best Thing About Being a Professional Dancer?

I get paid to do something I love to do. Dancing doesn’t feel like a job because it’s something I always wanted to do.

What Is the Worst Thing About Being a Professional Dancer?

This industry is so unpredictable. The worst part is not having a secure future.

What Is Your Best Experience as a Professional Dancer?

I’d probably say one of my best experiences so far is working for Celebrity Cruises’s. Flying out to Miami to train for two months before boarding the ship was such a great experience. I also really enjoyed dancing on Britain’s Got Talent for Jonny Awsum.

What Advice Would You Give to a Young Dancer Who Has Hopes Of Becoming a Professional?

I’d say focus on improving yourself and prepare for a lot of hard work and commitment. This industry is hard, but it’s worth it.

What Styles of Dance Do You Enjoy the Most?

I love technical jazz, so the jazzier, the better. However, I also really enjoy commercial and lyrical.

Who Is Your Favourite Current Dancer/Performer?

I enjoy Michael Dameski from So You Think You Can Dance. Also, Sam Bateson from Australia.

What Professional Aspirations Do You Have as a Dancer?

I’d love to work in the West End in any musical. However, I feel incredibly blessed and content to be working for Celebrity Cruises.

Did You Enjoy Working With Paul? If So, What Did You Enjoy The Most?

Yes, I enjoyed working with Paul. He made me feel very comfortable. He was extremely focused and determined to get the best shot.
